A prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko, has urged for tranquility within the political organization.
He believes that the internal competition should focus on ideas rather than personal attacks, as the party will require unity to regain power in 2028.
“Maintain a respectful discourse. The victor of this contest will need the entire family to succeed in the larger struggle. Work to reclaim power, don’t destroy to rebuild,” he stated in a social media post.
His remarks follow a series of exchanges among supporters of various candidates vying for the party’s flagbearership.
At present, two individuals have publicly announced their intentions to run for the party’s flagbearership.
Bryan Acheampong and Kennedy Agyapong are both seeking the opportunity to lead the party back to power.
Recently, Kennedy Agyapong has called on the party to reflect on its past and consider moving away from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who led the party to its most significant defeat in the 2024 elections, resulting in a mere 88 seats in Parliament.
