The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, is anticipated to appear before Parliament this week to discuss the ongoing issues related to the unresolved parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
Since the general elections on December 7, the constituency has been without a Member of Parliament due to a disagreement over the results collation from several polling centres.
This situation has left constituents without representation in the legislature for more than six months.
On June 4, the Minority caucus officially requested the Ghana Police Service to ensure sufficient security so that the Electoral Commission can safely and transparently complete the re-collation process.
Jean Mensa is set to update the Committee of the Whole in Parliament regarding the progress made in addressing the deadlock.
Lawmakers are expected to inquire about the EC’s timeline for finalizing the collation and announcing the election results.
