Man arrested in Eastern Region with 78 parcels of suspected Indian Hemp hidden in maize sacks

The Ghana Police Service has taken into custody a suspect named Christopher Saigoe for allegedly possessing substances believed to be narcotic drugs in Nkurakan, located in the Eastern Region.

This operation took place on June 17, 2025, during which authorities stopped a Sprinter Benz bus with the registration number AS 1933-21, which was being driven by the suspect.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered five sacks of maize that contained seventy-eight oval-shaped balls of plant material, wrapped in sellotape, which are suspected to be Indian hemp.

Currently, the suspect is in police custody, cooperating with the investigation, and will soon face court proceedings.
