Attram De Visser will face Golden Kick in a Division One clash in the semifinal of the MTN FA Cup. Both Access Bank Division One League clubs have been impressive in this year’s championship, traveling all the way to the last four of the Cup competition. They compete in Zone Three of Ghana’s second tier and made it to the semis after eliminating PAC Academy and Premier League side Karela United in the quarterfinal.

Their performance has been anchored in midfield, where two outstanding young talents operate. Nineteen-year-old Richmond Apakum plays for Attram De Visser, while David Amuzu features for Golden Kick.

Richmond Apakum’s rise to prominence

Midfielder Richmond Apakum, a former Black Starlets player, has become a household name in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup following his outstanding performances. He scored the final penalty in his side’s Round of 16 victory against Premier League leaders Bibiani Gold Stars at the Tuba Astroturf. Apakum also made a huge impression in the Quarterfinal clash against Karela United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, dazzling in midfield after coming off the bench. Apakum is diminutive but skillful, with nimble footwork and dribbling prowess. He has excellent vision, an eye for long balls, and near-perfect shooting accuracy.

David Amuzu’s Impact

He will come up against David Amuzu, another top talent who has emerged in this season’s MTN FA Cup. Amuzu has scored one goal in five matches, featuring 395 minutes for Golden Kick, and played a vital role in their progress over Accra Hearts of Oak. He was instrumental in their quarterfinal win over Premier League side Karela United.

While Apakum is more offensive, Amuzu provides the needed shield for the back four, cutting off supplies and tracking opponents’ attacking instincts.

Historic encounter

Attram De Visser and Golden Kick may have struggled to impress in the Access Bank Division One League, but their performance in the MTN FA Cup has been impressive. This meeting marks the first time the two Zone Three teams have reached the semifinals, making it a historic encounter.

The fixture is scheduled to take place at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
