“Elements within NPP worked against me for supporting ‘Ken must go'” – Cynthia Morrison

-

Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison, has revealed that she faced opposition from within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to her involvement in the controversial “Ken must go” movement.

In an exclusive interview with Sweetie Aborchie on JoyNews, Madam Morrison disclosed that her political career suffered setbacks as a result of her stance against the former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

“Elements within the NPP worked against me because I was part of ‘Ken must go’,” she stated, referring to the internal campaign that sought the removal of Mr Ofori-Atta from his ministerial position.

The former Minister stated that she stood alone as the only female voice in the movement.

“I was the only lady in ‘Ken must go’. I supported the removal of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta,” she said, showing no regret for her position despite the consequences.

Madam Morrison also revealed her support for Kennedy Agyapong during the NPP’s internal contests, describing him as a crucial figure in the party’s Central Region stronghold.

“I supported Ken Agyapong. Kennedy Agyapong was our pillar in the Central Region,” she said, highlighting the MP’s significance to the party’s regional structure.

When questioned about her political allegiances, particularly regarding her relationship with current party leadership, Madam Morrison explained that she thought the NPP needed a better candidate to win the 2024 elections.

“I am not a hypocrite. Even though Bawumia is my friend, I supported Ken because we needed to support a candidate who could win for the NPP,” she explained.
