Tinubu Won’t Lead Opposition Against Himself – Presidency

-

The Presidency has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Tinubu is responsible for the internal crises plaguing opposition parties, insisting that the President will not “lead opposition against himself.”

Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made the remarks on Sunday via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, amid mounting speculation that Tinubu was allegedly fueling crisis within opposition parties.

Major political parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are currently battling leadership crises, with frequent defections of their members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the situation, Ajayi wrote: “Tinubu is coming to save the opposition!

“For 16 years, long before he became President, Bola Tinubu as a leader in opposition organised, rallied the troops, provided leadership and led with courage.

“Two years into his Presidency we have very weak, ineffectual and grossly disoriented opposition parties and politicians.

“Instead of organizing they are whining. They want Tinubu to come and help them to form opposition against himself.

“It is only when Tinubu leads opposition against himself that democracy will not be in danger in Nigeria and we won’t have one-party state.”
