Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has praised Kurt Okraku after being appointed as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Mr Okraku, who is the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), had his appointment announced by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during a press conference in Accra on Saturday.
He was nominated by President Motsepe, and his nomination was approved by the CAF Executive Committee during its meeting.
Reacting to the appointment, Kofi Adams expressed his delight and said the country will be expecting more from Kurt Okraku.
He also added that his presence at CAF will create a positive impact for Ghana.
“We are expecting more from Kurt Okraku since he is the 2nd person at CAF, so I believe that with his presence there, there will be positive things for Ghana,” the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency told Asempa FM.
Mr Okraku, who was elected onto the CAF Executive Committee unopposed in March, climbs the ladder of leadership within the continent’s football governing body.
He joins Faouzi Lekjaa, who will serve as the First Vice President, replacing Senegal FA President Augustine Senghor, while Kurt Okraku takes over from Ahmed Yahya.
