NPP to quiz government with 26 questions on drug trafficking allegations today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared its intention to seek clarity from the government regarding allegations of drug trafficking through Ghana’s airports.

This was revealed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, during an interview on Channel One TV on Sunday, 6th April.

Mr Frimpong disclosed that the party has compiled a set of 26 critical questions, which it intends to present to the government at a meeting scheduled for Monday, 7th April, at the NPP headquarters.

“There are about 26 questions that we are asking the government to explain. We will make those 26 questions available to the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Contrary to earlier reports, he clarified that the meeting will not concern the disciplinary hearing of former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Instead, attention will be centred on the serious matter of alleged narcotic-related activities, which has stirred unease among both party members and the wider public.

The NPP’s chief scribe criticised the government’s approach to the unfolding situation, citing inconsistencies and what he described as a deliberate effort to downplay or obscure critical aspects of the issue.

He emphasised that the party’s rank and file are alarmed by the developments and demand transparency.

“There will be a meeting at the NPP headquarters, but definitely I am going to disappoint you—it is not going to be a discussion on whether or not Adwoa Safo is going to appear before a disciplinary committee,” Mr Frimpong remarked.

“The party will instead focus on the worrying behaviour of this government and the many unanswered questions surrounding the alleged drug trafficking activities at our airports.”
